Allies & Enemies

Over the last few weeks, we've seen a resurgence in play on MWO.  This comes after months of decline, only a few determined and loyal Liao Cháng-Chéng remained to fight.  We've come this far, however...and after a few encounters with other Liao personalities online I'd say we're the last hope of the true and free Capellan warriors.

 This short primer is a guide to House relations in the Inner Sphere of 3049.  Herein you will find a description of current events and the Capellan outlook on that faction.  This will allow us to roleplay the parts of the honorable Liao defenders and build alliances without compromising that characterization.  We'll start with our erstwhile "allies" and proceed to our most hated enemies.

Draconis Combine:  Ally

House Kurita has suffered Steiner aggression for quite some time, but they are also in a heated dispute with the breakaway Free Rasalhague Republic.  The enemy of my enemy is truly my friend.  The Draconis Combine has actually provided limited intelligence, soldiers and economic support since the start of the Fourth Succession War, though house relations go back much further than that.

Free Worlds League:  Ally

Though we have warred with House Marik in the past, the threat of the Federated Commonwealth (Houses Davion and Steiner) has led us to put aside our petty border disputes and get to the real business of killing FedCom soldiers.  Their support and cooperation is somewhat limited, but a Marik can generally be trusted to kill Steiner and Davion mechwarriors with adroitness.

Free Rasalhague Republic:  Enemy

Free Rasalhague is not a nation the Capellan Confederation even recognizes.  It is a rebel state to our ally, the Draconis Combine.  Rasalhague warriors should be considered criminals and insurrectionists, and we are bound to aid House Kurita by detaining (or destroying) Rasalhague military units should they appear in Capellan space.

Lyran Commonwealth:  Enemy

House Steiner, for the last twenty or so years, has been a part of the Federated Commonwealth.  The great houses of Steiner and Davion were joined in matrimony at the beginning of the Fourth Succession War, and Steiner has earned almost the same amount of hatred in the Capellan Confederation as House Davion.  However, the beef with Steiner doesn't run as deep as that with House Davion.  Consider them like any other FedCom soldier - kill them on sight.

Federated Suns:  Enemy

House Davion is our most hated enemy, and the literal focus of almost every war the Confederation has been involved in for the last few hundred years.  They have taken our land, and even our people with the rebel St. Ives Mercantile League.  If they are in our space, they are to be destroyed without mercy.  Any mechwarrior with Davion allegiance will be summarily executed if they speak out of turn.

St. Ives Compact:  Enemy

St. Ives Mercantile League broke away from the Capellan Confederation as a direct result of the Fourth Succession War.  Duchess Candace Liao fell in love with a FedSuns spy named Justin Xiang Allard, who had infiltrated the Maskirovka.  After roughly a third of the Confederation was lost to the FedCom via Allard's efforts, Candace had to make a choice.  Rather than face her father Maximilian's "insanity" or the ruthless wrath of her sister Romano (who is now our esteemed Chancellor) she fled and took the commonality with her.  Candace Liao made the wrong choice.  St. Ives mechwarriors do not represent House Liao, but rather are traitorous FedCom collaborators.  Consider them the worst example of the FedCom rats and act accordingly.

I hope that clears up some of the confusion.  St. Ives traitors should be our primary target, followed by the other Federated Commonwealth armed services.  Returning the Mercantile League to the fold of the Confederation is paramount to winning the confidence of the citizenry.  This is a matter of honor, and I trust every Liao Cháng-Chéng pilot out there is doing their part.
