1st Company Drop Guidelines (June, 2014)

Greetings, Gatekeepers.

Today's post is to address the comments that have been made regarding our 12-man drop guidelines.  These guidelines are made available at any meeting, but will not be available for general reference in an effort to conceal what we can about our strategies.  All strategic and tactical planning (for both lances and maps) will be handled on a personal level until further notice.

You can contact Zvolimir the Blackhand or any Sang-Wei about the guidelines.  If you want them in writing, get at an officer on Facebook, or Contact Maskirovka on the form here and once your ID is verified as Sao-Wei or higher you will receive that information.

If you've been part of a 12-man drop, either during 1st Company practice or on Newb Night (Saturday) then you've heard about these guidelines.  Some folks have picked up on what we're attempting to do right away, others need some more information.  In any case, I and the other officers are at your disposal to clear up any questions you may have.

Now on to the points preceding this initiative.

We get a lot of new players, and when we chose 'mechs for the 1st Company configuration it was done so based on what 'mechs members of 1st Company have and are comfortable with.  We didn't just decide on those 'mechs for no reason - it's because most of our long-time pilots that are signed to 1st Company have most of them and can cross-train on all positions.  This is why we're "unreasonable" about the guidelines.

We do not allow formal 1st Company drops without using this configuration.  It isn't because we want to lord over you what 'mechs you can play and which ones you can't, but rather to establish a baseline of solidarity and practice across the entire battalion (38-44 pilots, all told).

We have made practical but non-meta choices for these 'mechs, but then we know it's hard-going ahead anyway.  We do not enforce "builds" on you, and these guidelines are very relaxed compared to some companies.  We're going to install a team mentality in the pilots that want 1st Company (12-drops) status, and we're going to do it by relentlessly cleaving to this build until ALL our pilots are comfortable with it and can execute our plans effortlessly.

There will be Training Programs conducted on Saturdays where we have at least 16 players, or 50% new players (new to the game or the company).  This will prevent bloodbaths like last Saturday's Newb Night by giving us a good place to train them or expose them to our battalion's operational capacity.

Once we have achieved mastery of this configuration and sharpened our company level synergy and skills, (mayhaps a point a long time from now) we will start to explore other company formations and configurations, including other lance types found in the Tactical Manual.  It depends on how well it goes.  However, we will not be changing this configuration for anyone, except newbs who truly do not have a 'mech that will fit anywhere else.

For 1st Company, that means don't even ask about swapping a 'mech out - just learn the guidelines and play the spot you're assigned.  1st Company members should have at least two of our builds ready to go.  When we refer to 1st Company, we mean those pilots who are willing to play 12-man competitively and learn the team's configuration and maneuvers.  That is, those who have actually (willingly) signed up (see below) - if you want to add your name to the list, comment on this post below and let us know.

On Friday nights, we're going to be a bit more serious.  It will be the 12-man competition teams night, and the tiers for preference for inclusion in these 12-mans is as follows:
  1. 1st Company Pilot (Signed)
  2. Ranked Gatekeeper (Unsigned to the 1st Company Roster)
  3. New Players Loyal to Liao
  4. Other Players in our TS
Starting with Tier #1, pilots will be assigned to the 12-man according to those rules and progressing in order.  If a higher tiered pilot enters and wishes a seat, he will be granted it on Friday nights.  So get what tier you want in order.  Other than that order, for equal tiered pilots it's first come (to the TeamSpeak or group), first to serve.  Bear this in mind, and don't be bothered if you get moved to a reserve lance for 12-mans.  Sign up here to avoid that!

If I left you out and you signed up, I'm very sorry - I've been trying to keep up.  Just remind me in the comments section right below.  Put your name down, and I'll make sure you get a preferred spot.  We also need pilot details for the RPG section, as there are some really cool developments coming up regarding our little narrative of the Gatekeepers.

We must keep the "flavor" of House Liao prevalent in everything we do and keep plodding ahead, grinding mercilessly and cheerfully into each team that wants to grind us.  You are all Capellans, and Capellans do not give up easily.  For hundreds of years our Liao predecessors on these games had worse to deal with than what we've got now.  We're in a good position to go forward, and our plan is coming together nicely.

We're going to repair the reputation and might of House Liao, and we're starting with each one of you.  You all stand together, side by side, under a banner all others have thought forever forsaken to Goonz and pretenders.  We've built a great community for everyone who is loyal to the Liao banner.  So remember these things as you go forth and conquer.

You are a Gatekeeper.

You are House Liao.
